PETUALANGAN SHERINA 2 Screening Event in Vancouver

In a celebration of cinematic art and cultural exchange, the PETUALANGAN SHERINA 2 – Sherina’s Adventure 2 screening event, organized by CINEMAI: Cinema Day with PERMAI BC in collaboration with Miles Films, and BASE Entertainment, took place from December 16 to 18, 2023, leaving an indelible mark on the Vancouver film scene. The event not only brought together a diverse audience but also sparked meaningful connections and conversations.

The organizers extend heartfelt gratitude to everyone who attended, offering special thanks to their sponsors and vendors, without whom the event wouldn’t have been possible. The collective presence and support received went beyond their expectations, turning the event into a platform for shared experiences, nostalgia, and cross-cultural understanding.

Among the attendees were millennials who grew up with the first PETUALANGAN SHERINA movie. Their presence added a touch of nostalgia to the event, as they revisited the beloved characters and storyline. The atmosphere was filled with laughter and joy as memories from the past resurfaced, creating a unique bond among the audience members.

Interestingly, the event attracted a diverse audience, including non-Indonesians, who expressed gratitude for the opportunity to watch an Indonesian movie in Vancouver. For many, it was a chance to get closer to Indonesian culture and experience the storytelling prowess of Indonesian cinema. The film also served as an educational tool, shedding light on environmental issues, particularly the plight of orangutans, which resonated deeply with the audience.

The laughter and fun were not confined to specific age groups; instead, they reverberated through the venue, transcending generational gaps. For the Indonesian second generations, the event provided a bridge to their roots, allowing them to connect with Indonesian film and culture in a meaningful way.

One of the highlights of the evening was the enthusiastic reception from the younger audience. Even for those who hadn’t experienced the first movie, the charm of Indonesian musicals left a lasting impression. The event became a delightful introduction to the rich tapestry of Indonesian cinema for this generation, marking a potential shift in their cinematic preferences.

PERMAI BC expressed their gratitude once again to everyone who attended, emphasizing that the support received is a significant stepping stone for Indonesian cinema in Vancouver. The success of the PETUALANGAN SHERINA 2 screening event not only showcases the popularity of Indonesian films but also highlights the potential for future cultural exchanges through the medium of cinema.

As the curtains closed on this cinematic celebration, it left behind not just memories of a remarkable film but also a sense of community and shared appreciation for the magic of storytelling. The PETUALANGAN SHERINA 2 screening event in Vancouver stands as a testament to the power of film in bringing people together, fostering cultural understanding, and creating moments that transcend the boundaries of time and space.
